Colorado’s Employer Sponsored Plan Premium Increases May Slow a Bit in 2013

October 26th, 2012 – According to the Denver Post, increases in health insurance costs for businesses in Colorado are showing signs of finally slowing down.

Employer-provided health insurance costs were 14.4% in 2011, 9.4% in 2012 and are to increase 7.5% in 2013. The national average for health care cost increases are 7% for 2013.

Many companies are switching to higher deductibles and HSA qualified plans to reduce insurance premiums. Some employees are dropping off of employer sponsored plans in favor of lower cost individual health insurance plans.
