Presidential Candidates Throw Down Over Health Care

October 4th, 2012 – Last night President Obama and Mitt Romney met in Denver, Colorado to debate the issues, including healthcare.

President Obama defended “Obamacare” whereas Mitt Romney said that he would repeal Obamacare, saying it adds costs to the health system and has led to Medicare cuts.

Romney said that President Obama spent his energy pushing through a massive health care law with no bi-partisan support rather than focussing on fixing America’s struggling economy. Romney added that states should have the rights to determine how healthcare is regulated.

President Obama argued back that he worked on health care reform while working to create more jobs and that he based the law on Mitt Romney’s own plan from Massachusetts when he was governor.

Here is a link to a 16 minute video excerpt that shows both candidates addressing healthcare and their differing opinions on how to improve healthcare in America.
