Start Up Aims to Disrupt Small Business Health Insurance Industry

September 11, 2020 – Decent is an Austin based health insurance company that just secured $10 million in Series A funding to help fuel the company’s growth.  Decent previously secured $8 million in initial funding.

Decent has a new spin on a well established insurance product: Self-funded health insurance. Using self-funding, Decent is able to price it’s health insurance as much as 40% below the price of traditional fully insured small business health insurance plans.

While self funding has been popular for many years for large employers, Decent is helping small businesses and entrepreneurs take advantage of the cost saving benefits of self-funding.

“Big companies shouldn’t be the only ones with great benefits. We’re helping level the playing field for small businesses when it comes to purchasing healthcare,” explained CEO Nick Soman. “The cost savings we offer can make the difference between a small business offering coverage or leaving their employees with no health insurance at all.”

Decent has not yet expanded into Colorado, but there are other self funded health insurance plan options available for Colorado businesses. Learn more about self funded health insurance plans

I’m in agreement with the idea that small businesses should have the same flexibility when it comes to health care as the larger establishments in the world. Decent is an interesting prospect.
