November 3rd, 2026 – Open Enrollment for 2027 individual and family health insurance in Colorado is underway, and this year brings two changes worth knowing about.
First, Cigna left Colorado’s individual market at the close of 2026. If you had a Cigna plan, you’ll need to choose a new plan by December 15th for 2027.
Second, there’s a new option. Colorado Access is joining the individual market with Colorado Access Choice plans starting January 1, 2027.
Key dates to keep in mind:
- Enroll or change plans November 1 through December 15, and your coverage starts January 1.
- Enroll or change plans December 16 through January 15, and your coverage starts February 1.
- After January 15, you’ll generally need a qualifying life event, like losing other coverage, moving, or a change in your household, to enroll or change plans.
Before you choose a plan, check two things. Make sure your doctors and hospitals are in the plan’s network, and make sure your medications are on the plan’s drug list. A lower premium doesn’t do much good if your doctor isn’t in network.
